Student Leadership at Richmond Primary School

At Richmond Primary School, we believe in empowering our students to become confident, responsible and active members of our school community. Opportunities for student leadership encourage personal growth and promote a sense of belonging and pride. Our student leadership program provides diverse roles for students from different year levels, enabling them to develop their leadership skills and contribute to school life.

Senior Action Team

The Senior Action Team comprises students from our upper year levels who represent their peers and contribute to school decision-making. This group meets regularly with leadership to discuss ideas, lead initiatives and help organise school events. The Senior Action Team encourages student voice, fosters positive change and models respectful behaviour for the whole school.

Junior Action Team

Our Junior Action Team offers leadership opportunities for younger students. This team engages with projects that enhance school life, such as organising activities for special events and supporting whole-school initiatives. Members learn valuable teamwork and communication skills while building confidence as emerging leaders.

Library Monitors

Library Monitors play a key role in maintaining a vibrant and organised library space. Their responsibilities include assisting with book borrowing and returns, shelving books, supporting younger students in finding resources and the organising and running of Book Week activities. Library Monitors are dedicated, organised and passionate about promoting a love of reading.

Flag Ambassadors

Flag Ambassadors take pride in raising and lowering our flags each day, ensuring that we acknowledge significant dates and show respect for cultures and national events. They learn ceremonial procedures and act as role models for responsibility and care.

Charter Ambassadors

Richmond Primary School is proud to participate in the Charter Ambassador Program (CAP), which comprises some of our senior students with valuable opportunities to be inspired, build new skills, drive positive change and promote the SA Charter for Children and Young People in our community.

Our Charter Ambassadors:

· Develop a strong understanding of the SA Charter for Children and Young People

· Share and promote the Charter’s messages with peers and the wider community

· Take part in events and activities with other Charter Ambassadors from across South Australia

· Advocate for and support positive changes within the school and beyond

· Model care, respect and a focus on wellbeing for themselves and others

Sports Captains

Sports Captains are student leaders who promote participation, teamwork, and school spirit through their actions and involvement in sport. They lead their House Colour Team during Sports Day and other community events throughout the year, encourage and support fellow students, and assist staff with the organisation and management of sporting equipment both on event days and throughout the year.

As positive role models within the school community, Sports Captains demonstrate leadership, responsibility, fairness, and good sportsmanship. They work collaboratively with students and staff, help ensure sporting events run smoothly, and contribute to creating an inclusive, supportive, and positive sporting culture across the school.
