Dear School community,
We are very excited to officially introduce the new Richmond Primary School logo! 🎉
This new logo is more than just a fresh look for our school. It has been developed through a thoughtful and collaborative process involving our Student Action Team (SAT), staff and students, with the aim of creating a design that better represents who we are as a diverse and inclusive school community.
🎨 The Design Journey
The process began in Week 7 of Term 1, when Ms Jodi met with the Student Action Team to begin exploring ideas for a new school logo. Together, the group reflected on our existing logo and agreed that it had become outdated and that some elements were no longer clear in what they represented.
Our students then got creative! They explored different ideas, symbols and designs that could better represent Richmond Primary School and our community.
Following feedback from staff, changes were made and the designs continued to evolve. After many design meetings, Ms K and Ms Jodi met with the students for a design review.
During this review, we agreed that some of our early designs were too busy and that the final logo needed to be simple, meaningful and easily recognisable. Most importantly, we wanted it to reflect the inclusive and multicultural community that makes Richmond Primary School so special.
🌏 The globe was identified as a strong symbol of our diverse and multicultural community.
🤝 The hands represented connection, belonging, inclusion and working together.
🏫 We also wanted to acknowledge the long history of Richmond Primary School by incorporating our established date into the design.
The students' original designs played an important role in the process. By experimenting with different styles, drawings and ideas, they helped identify the elements that best represented our school and provided the inspiration for the final design.
Ms Jodi then brought these ideas together and simplified the student concepts into two final logo designs.
🗳️ Students Had Their Say
The two final designs were presented to our Year 4, 5 and 6 students, who were given the opportunity to vote for the logo they felt best represented Richmond Primary School.
And now, we are very proud to reveal the winning design – our new Richmond Primary School logo! ❤️🌏
🌟 What Happens Next?
We will begin with a soft launch, gradually introducing the new logo across our digital platforms and school communications.
During 2027, the new branding will progressively be introduced across school signage and uniforms. More information about these changes and transition arrangements will be shared with families as they occur.
We are incredibly proud that our new logo has been shaped by student voice, collaboration and our school community. It represents not only Richmond Primary School today, but the welcoming, diverse and inclusive school we want to continue to be into the future.
We look forward to seeing our new logo become an important part of the next chapter of Richmond Primary School.
Kind regards,
Richmond Primary School Leadership Team
