Intensive English Language Centre students

Richmond Primary School’s Intensive English Language Centre provides intensive English language support for students aged 5-13 who were born overseas and who have been in Australia for less than 12 months (eighteen months for Junior Primary aged students).

The program prepares students for success in the Australian schooling system and develops their confidence to live in the Australian community.
This is achieved through:

  • intensive English language support with specialist teachers of English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • small classes
  • bilingual classroom support
  • a variety of experiences within the school and the wider community, including excursions and social events

Students generally stay in the program for up to one year. After completion, students are supported to successfully continue their education at their local school.
